The summer of 1978 found Beth working as a "Cabin Girl" at a fly fishing
camp on West Branch Pond in Maine. West Branch Pond is northeast of
Greenville, Maine. It is east of Moosehead Lake. The nearest settlement is
Kokadjo, Maine, population 6.
She did the laundry, using a wringer washer, and kept the cabins clean.
She had to wear netting over her head to keep those nasty black flies at bay
while she hang out the laundry. She slept with a shotgun until she was able
to shoot the bat that lived in her cabin, but the lightning caused fire that
burned her cabin did her in.
